Lasker declared a quorum at 12:05 PST. The following members were present in the ReadAssist Chatroom:

Dorsett reported $24.00 expense for the ReadAssist mailbox and $0.29 interest income, for a current balance of $1,339.71. Report was accepted.

Website

Lasker stated the two items of note to be

  1. Need for new webmaster following Cedeno’s resignation (3 Feb 2005), and
  2. Hosting and posting of Webscription application form.

Dorsett is searching for someone to take the position, but experiencing difficulties in getting his email past spam-blockers. He will persevere. Mayerle said that he knows someone who might be willing, and will ask him. Cochran and Mayerle have volunteered as back-up candidates.

Application Form:
This has been written and programmed, and is ready for testing as soon as the website is transferred to the new domain.
Next Step:
  1. Dorsett to follow up with his list of candidates.
  2. Dorsett to contact Cedeno and get domain transferred.
  3. Dorsett and Mayerle to contact candidates for Webmaster.
  4. Poggiani to provide material when domain is ready.
  5. Mayerle and Cochran to be considered for position of back-up Webmasters.

Next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 19, 2005.

Committee Reports

Autographed Ring of Fire

Greg Donahue, Deann Allen, and Mike Turner have signed it. It should be at Dave Weber’s now. I expect Dave to have it to me this week so I can bring it to Sheva next weekend. I also hope to get Virginia’s autograph before I leave for Sheva on Friday, February 25.

Situation

  1. Teresa: Regular application. All fields filled out correctly and is processed by Baen.com. Access webscriptions,download a book efile and read it.
  2. Janet: Applications (as many as there are different blocks)filled out with missing blocks. Should not process
  3. xxx: Regular application filled out with Regular application filled out with VA disability. Should process, but Baen.com will revoke

When we find a new webmaster, I have the pages to send to heesh ready to go. Except, of course, for the photos of Jimmy, which have been lost in the ether.

Our last set of host difficulties kept us off the web long enough for nearly everyone who had a link to us realize it -- and take our link away. This includes Yahoo's and Google's directories. I will work on getting these back after our site has accomplished its move, and gotten the photos included.

Publicity Report

Why does no one mention planning to go to a convention? Or respond when asked? Do any of the board members go to conventions? Other than Janet and I, I mean, because there are large sections of the country -- of the world! -- that we don't travel to, and therefore cannot leave bookmarks to entice readers to the website.

I have given bookmarks to a new neighbor, who works with children who need assistive technology in order to read; she stated that she is always looking for more e-books.
