Meeting Minutes

September 23, 2006

The following members were present in the ReadAssist Chatroom at aim.com:

Chair called meeting to order at 1:01 PM CST, September 23, 2006, and declared a quorum. All relevant documentation regarding this Board will be kept by the Communications Officer & Recorder.

Chair asked J. Dorsett about getting a new local PO box address. This should happen soon.

Poggiani has been sending out lots of bookmarks. Jonathan will be sending Keith the form to put online. Then Dailey, Poggiani, and Cochran will test. Then write the announcement, one for Baen to use, and the other for RA to use.

SFPL Business

1. J. Dorsett needs to apply for an EIN to get a federal tax number (also used for the state EIN) and to set up a checking account, then hopefully finalize the 501(c)3.
    
2. Boyes added that the grant of recognition (for the SFPL) from the IRS is backdated to the date of incorporation of the entity, and all gifts made before the date of the IRS finding are retroactively deductible. RA is a committee of the SFPL.

Chair asked if there was anything about the T-shirt project. C. Dorsett was getting photos taking for J. to put on on ebay. She plans to get the authors to post this on THEIR conferences, websites, blogs as well.

Nothing more from the subcommittee for scholarships. Discussed possibly putting an ad in convention programs.

Next RA meeting is scheduled for November 4, 2006, 12 noon PST (2 PM CST).
